US Diagnostics Center (USDC) is a DNA relationship testing company headquartered in Franklin, Ohio. We provide paternity, maternity, sibling, grandparent, avuncular, and twin zygosity DNA tests to individuals and families across the United States.

Founded by Dr. Todd Lewis, USDC was built on a straightforward idea: professional-grade DNA testing should be affordable, fast, and private. Our tests start at $79, results come back in 1-2 business days, and every kit ships in discreet, unmarked packaging.

What We Do

We offer at-home DNA test kits for relationship testing. You order online, collect painless cheek swab samples at home, and mail them back using the prepaid return label included in every kit. Our laboratory analyzes 24+ genetic markers using STR (Short Tandem Repeat) profiling and delivers results with 99.99% accuracy for confirming biological relationships.

Our Laboratory

At the heart of our operations is a state-of-the-art laboratory equipped with advanced DNA analysis technology and maintained to the highest industry standards. Every sample that comes through our facility is processed by trained geneticists and laboratory technicians who bring precision and care to each test.

Our lab uses Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) amplification and STR profiling across 24+ genetic markers, the same core technology used by forensic laboratories and accredited paternity testing facilities worldwide. Quality control protocols are built into every step of the process, from sample intake through final reporting.

Founder & President

Todd Lewis, holds a PhD in Molecular Genetics and an MBA in Healthcare Administration, is the Founder and President of US Diagnostics Center — a laboratory specializing in high-quality DNA relationship testing. With over 20 years of combined scientific and executive experience, Dr. Lewis launched the company to elevate transparency and customer service in the DNA testing industry, introducing a model rooted in integrity, scientific rigor, and responsiveness. Under his leadership, the lab has become a national benchmark for quality assurance and client trust. Personally and professionally committed to excellence, Dr. Lewis serves on Relationship Testing Standards Committees that advance global protocols and compliance for accredited DNA laboratories around the world. His leadership philosophy is grounded in the belief that a company’s greatest asset is its people; he cultivates a culture where every employee feels valued, supported, and fairly compensated.
Dr. Michael Baird, PhD

Laboratory Director

Dr. Michael Baird earned his PhD in Genetics from the University of Chicago in 1978, followed by postdoctoral training in Human Genetics at the University of Michigan and Columbia University. This foundation launched a pioneering career in DNA testing for human identification, paternity, and forensic applications. In 1982, he joined Lifecodes Corporation at its inception as Senior Scientist, where he helped develop DNA tests for paternity and forensic use, and advanced DNA-based HLA testing for the National Marrow Donor Program. In 1987, Dr. Baird became one of the first scientists to testify in court using DNA evidence and has since testified in hundreds of trials and Frye hearings nationwide. Beyond the lab, Dr. Baird has been a prominent voice in public science communication, with appearances on the Today Show, Charlie Rose, and Larry King Live. In 1995, he served as NBC’s on-air DNA consultant during the O.J. Simpson trial. Following Lifecodes’ acquisition in 2002, Dr. Baird became Chief Science Officer at DNA Diagnostics Center (DDC) in Fairfield, Ohio, where he oversaw forensic and paternity testing operations until 2022. In addition to serving as USDC's Lab Director, Dr. Baird volunteers as a laboratory inspector for AABB, ANAB, and CAP, and serves on the AABB Relationship Testing Standards Committee. With over four decades of contributions, Dr. Baird is widely recognized as a leader and innovator in DNA testing.
