Maternity Test | DNA Testing Glossary
A maternity test is a DNA test used to confirm whether a specific woman is the biological mother of a child. It follows the same scientific method as a paternity test — comparing genetic markers between the woman and the child to look for the expected patterns of inheritance. Maternity testing is less common than paternity testing but is used in situations such as adoption reunification, immigration cases, hospital mix-up concerns, or surrogacy verification. US Diagnostics Center offers a home maternity test kit that analyzes up to 28 genetic markers.
