AABB (Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies) | DNA Testing Glossary
AABB (formerly the American Association of Blood Banks) is the accrediting body that sets standards for laboratories performing DNA relationship testing in the United States. AABB accreditation means a laboratory has been audited and meets strict requirements for testing procedures, quality assurance, analyst qualifications, and proficiency testing. Courts, government agencies (including USCIS for immigration cases), and child support enforcement offices typically require that DNA testing be performed by an AABB-accredited laboratory for results to be accepted. AABB accreditation is voluntary, but it is widely considered the benchmark of reliability in the relationship testing industry. US Diagnostics Center is currently pursuing AABB accreditation.
